As far as I know, french fries aren't from France but form Belgium. So the answer is...I don't know O.o

Actually it's because for french fries potatoes are french cut which of course is a style of sliceing o3o
Also it may be a try too make it sound fancy because when fast food was first made it was highly unpopular o3o

Actually, it was made in Belgium, where one of the national language is French. They showed it to the Americans and because they spoke French, they assumed that it was from France, lo French Fries were born.

Because there were so many varied answers, I decided to look up "French fries" on Wikipedia. It looks like everyone is wrong except NeoKitai.
