I think Microsoft is actually a public one isn't it? Privately own meaning it isn't offering its ownership up for stocks or something. Or does that only means majority ownership of its stock is in the original owner's hand?

@Magi

Actually, privately owned just means that there is no federal ownership of the company. Basically, anything that the government doesn't have a stock in or control of is a privately owned company.

For awhile it was Koch Industries. This was an energy conglomerate based in the US and was responsible for overseeing Invista, Georgia-Pacific, Flint Hill Resources, Koch Pipeline, Koch Petroleum Group, Koch Fertilizer, Koch Engineering, and Koch Minerals to name a few. If they had gone public in 2007, they would have made the top 15 of the Fortune 500 immediately.

walmart, while probably not the largest, is interesting in that it's all owned by one family, so there is no financial reason to justify their atrocities.

Maggie & Annie

Good movie! No spoilers, but it's a classic "straight girl who didn't know she was gay until she met a lesbian who knocked her socks off with a glance" romance.
